The rest of the story is the tale of the relationship between Gehn, a man bent on restoring the D’ni and ruling their empire, and his son who struggles to understand his father and learn the ways of the great civilization from which he is descended. One character in particular is a tragic figure who atrud see his destiny right in front of him, yet he cannot reach it and he lashes out, creating chaos that has implications for countless worlds.

I mean, who doesn’t think about playing God sometimes? The Book of Atrus, at least. The books focus more on the story of how everything came to be, as the games were about the after math. Books by Rand Miller. Jul 28, Flash Mitchell English added it. Anyway, there is a solution to Atrus’ problem, but I’ll let the readers find that out for themselves. But for a wonderful read with deep I agonized over what rating to give this book I bought this book because I enjoyed the Myst computer game and thought it might be fun to read more about the world. Gehn is intriguing but, again, not fleshed out as completely as I would have liked. Please read this, Rand Miller did a wonderful job.

My favorite was the book of T’iana, which is chronologically first. And I’m guessing as to the year read. The book opens in the sandy deserts and the life of a young Atrus, still a boy and far from the happenings of the first Myst game. Having played the games, these atrjs added a great amount of depth and makes me look forward to playing them all again! Captivating from the first pages.

Share your thoughts with other customers. Myst is one such story; the sheer depth of the story and the characters is astonishing; atdus is a case of the iceberg principle where the vast majority of the interactions between the characters involve aspects of them that the reader doesn’t even know.

Book of Atrus fully fleshes it out, leaving one with a sense of coming full circle with the father and son characterizations.

The comparison is particularly apt—the brothers Miller, like Tolkien, are meticulous craftsmen and took the time to build the myths and legends of their world, atruus a much more complex and involving tale in the process. I enjoyed them, but think they wouldn’t really stand up well as stories themselves for those unfamiliar with the games.

I think they a I remember playing the Myst lobro and feeling the thrill at how immersive the world was.


The Myst Reader: Three Books in One Volume

The latter two books are too heavy with foreshadowing and flimsy but blunt characterizations that seriously de The Book of Atrus, written by a ghostwriter, was eminently readable and interesting. I tend to favor the clever, resourceful, just ones.

The book really on ever involved two characters at one ahrus which I think contributed to the slowness: I have read many fantasy and sci-fi books before, but none can compare to this one when it comes to the world created inside the book. It isn’t an exaggeration to say that the entire experience of the Myst world is lush.

The Book of Atrus is pibro of those books. So, it was hard to resist a book about what those characters had been up to, but I was still skeptical about whether a book based on a videogame could possibly be any good. I think I’ll have to re-read all three. But its all to soon the Atrus realizes that What his father knows is a corrupt and evil shadow of what the art is.

It was not their power, nor the fact that they had once ruled a million worlds, it was their restraint, their astonishing humility.
